Towards a specialised database of Flemish architectural archives

The Database of Flemish Architectural Archives

The Database of Flemish Architectural Archives offers an overview of identified private architectural archives in Flanders and has been operational since 2004. It contains information on the archives of architects, construction companies, clients, architectural schools, contractors and architectural institutions. The CVAa considers this databank the most important instrument in improving access to architectural archives.

The contents of the database

The databank currently holds more than 70 registered archives from Flemish architects, institutions or companies. Each archive description contains information about the size, the date, the storage location and the contents. The registered archives may be held by various heritage institutions or private individuals. The information is continuously updated. For the sake of privacy, not all information in the database is publicly accessible. If your search in the databank proves fruitless, you can always contact us for more information.
The Database of Architectural Archives is part of the Archiefbank Vlaanderen and is linked to ODIS Databank. Archiefbank Vlaanderen and Odis Databank are collective joint ventures. The entry of information takes place in collaboration with various partners, including archive institutes, libraries, museums, heritage associations, etc.
