About the VAi

The Flemish Architecture Institute is an information centre whose aim it is to increase awareness of contemporary architecture among both the general public and professionals, researchers, the media and policy makers. To achieve this it intends to distribute information in various ways and forms about buildings, architecture, architectural libraries, publications, periodicals, competitions and events.

Furthermore, the VAi is a source of information for all kinds of activities concerning contemporary architecture, such as readings, debates, publications, architecture trips, studies and activities for young people and children. The VAi works whenever possible with local organisations and partners from the world of architecture.

The Centrum Vlaamse Architectuurarchieven (Centre for Flemish Architectural Archives - CVAa) is part of the VAi. It coordinates the acquisition of architecture archives and the cooperation between the Flemish archive institutions. Moreover, it has initiated research and activities for the general public on the subject of architectural inheritance.
