The 2004 edition presents a selection of 15 buildings using clear project descriptions and abundant illustrations. The book also contains several articles on subjects which the editors consider topical and significant: formation of identity resulting from a varied and complex historical construction; a confrontational analysis of cultural infrastructure over the last 10 years urban living with a rural quality, or the relativeness of density; an argument in favour of architectural design as a form of research (into the city).
As always, the book also includes a summary of publications, exhibitions, talks, competitions and architectural prizes. All this makes the yearbook an invaluable source of information and provides a launching pad for the development of architectural debate in Flanders.
