Architecture Season 2019-2020

The architecture season 2019 - 2020 is looking very promising. Next range of exhibitions, the Flanders Architecture Institute provides several moments to introduce interesting architects to the public. Like every season we organize lectures, debates and encounters with architects, urban planners and critics. And of course we have plenty of publications coming up in 2020.

Some highlights:

Sofie De Caigny, director of the Flanders Architecture Insittute:

The sustainability debate often focuses exclusively on energy performance. Yet architecture that respects the climate and history of a particular place and gives these users an active voice is equally – if not more – sustainable. Knowledge of local building practices and sensitivity to the context can make architecture part of a broader construction culture. This encourages users to appropriate places and buildings, which in turn means that the constructions enjoy a longer life.
