Exceptional number of Belgians nominated for EUMiesAward19

An exceptional number of projects by architectural firms based in Flanders and Brussels are amongst the nominees for the forthcoming edition of the prestigious European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture – Mies van der Rohe Award. Conferred every two years, the EUMiesAward is widely considered to be the equivalent of an Oscar for architecture. The wealth of shortlisted projects by firms based in Flanders and Brussels highlights the ever-expanding international interest in the Belgian architecture scene.

Young Promising Architects brings Dutch and Belgian designers together

After the first successful edition in 2017, the Flanders Architecture Institute, Het Nieuwe Instituut and the Dutch Embassy in Brussels are once again joining forces to compile an exchange programme for promising young architects from both countries. Young Promising Architects 2018 will take place in Antwerp, Belgium, between 22 and 23 November 2018. During several visits, workshops and presentations special attention will be paid to the work of Belgian architect Léon Stynen.

A+ focuses on international projects by Belgian architectural firms

An ever-increasing number of Belgian firms are winning international competitions to design projects abroad. Architecture magazine A+ focuses on five new designs that have been realised in France and as far away as Bahrain and Albania: Skanderbeg Square in Albania by 51N4E, the Centre for Traditional Music in Bahrain by OFFICE, the Orteaux Urban Renovation Project in Paris by BOB361, the Waterfront Promenade in Albania by XDGA architects and the Conservatory in Nantes, France, by L’Escaut.
