In 2003 Antwerp city council organised a competition for a flexible multipurpose building to bring together the Integration Department and the Dutch Language Centre. The competition was won by META Architects on the basis of an austere, no-nonsense proposal. With its low threshold and its affirmative presence in the street frontage, it has - literally - all the potential to contribute to the essential restructuring of the surrounding urban fabric.
