The building claims its place in the city centre. It stands out emphatically in the street and self-confidently positions itself between the vice-chancellery and the technical laboratories, in the shadow of the Book Tower. On the outside, the UFO has the look of a somewhat bleak neutral box whose form and scale are radically different from those of the surrounding buildings. Despite the complexity of the programme, the architects came up with an exceptionally clear and legible plan.
In its ostensible neutrality and simplicity, the UFO flirts with the uncontexted and the generic, while still remaining emphatically distinct from them. In the UFO, everything unfolds from the inside out, on the basis of the brief and the plan, without too many additions or ostentation.
