Schenk Hattori Architecture Atelier extended this quite mundane house with a new entrance hall. The existing house was also wrapped in an insulating coat. Beside the entrance, the new brick skin moves away from the former façade. The gap between the two façades becomes a new staircase, making it possible for one of the upstairs rooms to function autonomously from the rest of the upper floor. The architectural idiom of the additions is serene and seeks harmony with the existing house. The residence was given new layers that add depth and complexity to its retro farmhouse style.
