META architectuurbureau is behind this mixed-use building that houses apartments, offices and, on the ground level, a piano shop. The building was designed as an ‘intelligent ruin’ with an open plan in which office spaces as well as apartments can be housed. The circulation core was positioned at the back so as to maximize the enjoyment of daylight. The white, prefabricated concrete façades were conceived as a tectonic stacking of floor plates and columns. The windows behind one of the two façades were pulled back to create an intermediate zone for terraces. The recesses of the façade create an expressive shadow play that adds life to the barefaced carcass.

META architectuurbureau: "In terms of plan and façade, it fits within the context of the neighbourhood, but at the same time, it has a neutral and generic character. It also stands out for being a corner building with a powerful façade rhythm. This is achieved through the floor slabs and columnar structure, the slightly raised cornice, and the use of white concrete. The concrete façade elements form the exoskeleton of the building. They are both the supporting structure and the finished façade"
