Mediagebouw
For the design of this Media Building, the programme was roughly divided in two connected volumes: a tower volume and a slab of equal height, each on one side of an outdoor events square. Two floors of the building connect the tower with the slab and cover the square. Each façade responds to one of the facets of the park area. The long slab faces a memorial park with winter garden terraces and emphasizes the long public park running along the building. The other façades are characterized by an idiosyncratic pattern of lens-shaped windows that respond to the different park areas and views of the city. The building obtains a strong sense of autonomy, while seeming very embedded in the direct topography and context.

Composite Presence at Biennale Architettura 2021
This project is part of the exhibition Composite Presence in the Belgian pavilion at the 17th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia.
Robbrecht en Daem architecten: "We are participating with two projects in the exhibition Composite Presence. The first one is a building for the State Archives, with (of course) archive storage and reading rooms and such, located in Ghent. The second one is a Media Building with broadcasting studios, workspaces, auditoria, etc. in Brussels. Both are the result of a collaboration with another architect studio.
For the State Archives Robbrecht en Daem architecten worked with Arch & Teco. The Media Building was the result of a very much appreciated collaboration with Dierendonckblancke architecten."
