This summer you can visit the exhibition ‘Across 8 offices, 8 perspectives’ in the gallery on the Mont des Arts. Eight young Belgian architecture firms each showcase a project by means of a large-scale photograph.
In 2020-2021, the young architects of Atelier Scheldeman, Generiek, Générale, Studio Thomas Willemse, vvv, mamout, Altstadt and Goffart Polomé gave lectures as part of the ‘Across’ series. Now they are exhibiting their work. They allow us to step inside one of their architectural projects by means of a photo. Eight photos of projects, printed at a large scale, will in turn be exhibited in a display case here for a one-week period. The scenography of this exhibition, designed by the Brussels-based architecture firm Elmēs, offers us an illusion of the built spaces and thus a glimpse into the world of the featured firms.
The display case is a kind of illuminated advertising panel, from which all commercial connotations have disappeared. A beacon of light in the city, whose contents change every week. During the day, but also at night, you can repeatedly discover new photos of a project by one of the eight firms.
The group exhibition concludes this year’s ‘Across’ lecture series. It opens on 21 June 2021, also the day that the Urban Summer 2021 festivities kick off. The architectural practices of the eight firms are explored in an accompanying video and publication.
