The city of Antwerp is looking for a multidisciplinary team for the transformation of the Koningin Astridplein Antwerpen.
The city of Antwerp has the ambition to transform Koningin Astridplein into a contemporary square in which both upper and lower levels are examined by the external design team.
The square serves a significant mobility function due to the presence of various forms of public transport and shared mobility in and around the square, underground car parking and bicycle parking. The public space currently lacks structure, resulting in a loss of quality.
The square adjacent to attractions such as the Zoo, the Elisabeth Hall and the central station is intended to become a pleasant, socially safe place to stay, which at the same time is a strong starting and connecting point for mobility within Antwerp. By shaping the upper and lower level together, the city wishes to achieve the various ambitions it faces. Moreover, the reconstruction will need to respond to the current climate challenges.
In order to translate these ambitions into a high-quality design for both the upper and lower level, the city of Antwerp is looking for a multidisciplinary team with knowledge and experience in public spaces, landscape architecture, (shared) mobility, urban planning, infrastructure and civil engineering with a strong technical background in the field of hydrology.
