The new building of art center Z33 in Hasselt – currently under construction – is being presented in Arsenale during the Biennale Architettura 2018.
Architect Francesca Torzo has been invited to participate in the 16th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, curated by Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara. Torzo’s installation focuses solely on the new Z33 building, showing models, prototypes, texts and images that capture the spirit of her magnificent design for the new House for Contemporary Art.
Torzo’s design for Z33 fits in perfectly with the general theme of FREESPACE, presenting a tactile, sensuous building that consists of an ensemble of pure architectural, simple spaces that vary in scale, proportion, atmosphere and lighting. Spacious public exhibition galleries alternate with intimate rooms, providing continuous views from one room to the other. A great materialization of Torzo’s subtle, poetic approach to architecture.
Z33 under construction
Z33 has been constructing the new building since 2017. The new accommodation, together with the renovated exhibition wing, will form a new House for Contemporary Art in Hasselt’s city centre in 2019.
