On the occasion of the exhibition MAATWERK MASSARBEIT. Custom Made Architecture from Flanders and the Netherlands in Frankfurt, the Flanders Architecture Institute, Het Nieuwe Instituut and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum present the Frankfurt Dialogues debate series. Dutch and Flemish architects will discuss their shared convictions about craftsmanship, customisation and spatial quality, despite their divergent cultural and historical conditions.
Frankfurt Dialogue 2: Radicalism & Poetry
There is an apparent brutality to the work of a new stream of architects that is sometimes striking. Closer examination reveals that a powerful gesture or a distinct attitude is often the key to deeper layers in the work; for example building upon history, a contemporary reading of the context, or the creation of fresh nuances in the space. This evening event will shine a spotlight on the poetry of this distinctive architecture.
