Architecture from Flanders through the eyes of Tokyo and London

After numerous international stopovers and a Silver Lion in Venice, architecten de vylder vinck taillieu have settled in Antwerp. The Flanders Architecture Institute invited them to create a follow-up to their exhibition at the TOTO Gallery MA in Tokyo (2019). They turned it into more than just a sequel. "With RE-PRACTICE RE-VISIT RE-TURN we call into question the concept of the architectural exhibition."

In spring 2020, the Flanders Architecture Institute is focusing on the link between Japan and Flanders/Brussels. Schenk Hattori and SUGIBERRY, two young firms with offices in both Belgium and Japan, exhibit their work for the first time in deSingel. As part of the two exhibitions, Schenk Hattori and SUGIBERRY design an installation in the garden of the arts campus. During the opening night the architects will discuss the design in relation with the theme 'Back from Japan'.

The Eindhoven School: a forgotten avant-garde offers a contemporary reflection on the position and impact of the Eindhoven School in and on Dutch architectural culture. The exhibitions opens 3 March in deSingel with a lecture from architectural historian and critic Bart Lootsma (University of Innsbruck).
