In the run-up to the 2025 Biennale Architettura in Venice, the team of Bas Smets together with researchers of the University of Ghent are working on a prototype of the installation for the Belgian pavilion; Building Biospheres. In a greenhouse on the Campus Coupure, they are experimenting with innovative climate control for buildings.

Following the exhibition Dogma: Urban Villa the independent publication platform and research-driven studio KoozArch publishes an interview with Dogma and APPARATA.

The exhibition runs until 9 February 2025 at the Flanders Architecture Institute in Antwerp.

The Brussels-based project Flow receives the award for Social Engagement for initiator Pool is Cool’s innovative use of architecture to foster social cohesion in a deprived neighbourhood. The project features accessible infrastructure around a mobile pool, made from reused materials, offering outdoor activities, education and jobs to vulnerable local youth.

Sofie De Caigny (former director of the Flanders Architecture Institute and from 1 February Head of Collections at Nieuwe Instituut) will give a lecture on 7 December at Abe Bonnema Stichting about the role of quality chambers, government architects and other spatial mediators in the Belgian building culture.
