The first publishing of the Flanders Archiectura Yearbook presents a survey of recent developments in architecture and environmental planning in Flanders and Brussels. It is prefaced by a number of articles offering a critical insight into the current state of affairs and wich discuss the role of architecture in town planning, public housing, official contracts and local government policy. The middle section comprises a selction of 32 projects executed between 1990 and 1993, from small interior conversions to large office buildings.
The book also contains a list of exhibitions, publications and architectural prizes from the period under discussion. All this should make it a valuable source of information and a foundation for the development of architectural discussion in Flanders.
