Het Iconic Houses Network kondigt zijn eerste Europese symposium aan, georganiseerd door The Finnish Institute in Londen en gepland op 12 november in het V&A Museum in Londen. Iconic Houses is een internationaal netwerk van opmerkelijke 20e-eeuwse huizen die als een huismuseum geopend zijn voor het publiek. Het netwerk richt zich op conservatie, management, beleid en samenwerking.
Waar moet het naartoe met moderne huismusea over de hele wereld? Hoe moeten ze communiceren naar het publiek? De discussie wordt op gang getrokken aan de hand van vijf cases, met name het Melnikov Huis, Gropius Huis in Dessau, Villa Tugendhat, Schindler Huis en Fallingwater. Hoe moeten Iconic Houses een publiek opbouwen? Hoe kunnen ze ervoor zorgen dat ze, als een bijzonder waardevol deel van de gebouwde omgeving, goed behandeld worden en intact kunnen blijven voor toekomstige generaties?
