Take advantage of the unique opportunity offered by the ‘2011 Architecture Day’ to visit the most outstanding recent architectural projects in Flanders. Not only will you gain an insight into architectural design, you will also learn more about the creation of sustainable architecture, both in the fields of ecology and group housing, and regarding accessibility for people with a disability. What is more, this project confronts you with a number of pressing social questions on the built space and the need for society’s support for the execution of major building projects and radical urban planning developments.
The recent extension to deSingel, designed by Stéphane Beel Architects, will also be open during ‘Architecture Day’. You can visit the additional 12,000 sq. m. of new auditoria, studios and classrooms, an exhibition space, the Grand Café and a library and reading room, either on your own or with a guide.
