Back from Japan
autumn 2020

This autumn we are focusing on the architectural exchange between Flanders and Japan. Two architectural cultures that are ostensibly far apart are today showing a renewed interest in one another. In a series of exhibitions, lectures and (online) reflections, we seek out surprising similarities and deep-rooted differences that lead to new dynamics.

RE-PRACTICE RE-VISIT RE-TURN. architecten de vylder vinck taillieu is the first exhibition within the theme Back from Japan to (re)open on 9 September.

Flanders Architectural Review N°14
Construction Materials Hub, Brussels
TETRA architecten

The latest edition of the Flanders Architectural Review presents striking architecture from Flanders and Brussels. The cover project is the Construction Materials Hub in the Port of Brussels by TETRA architecten (MAKER architecten / Terwecoren-Verdickt). 'TETRA has created a building that is as sustainable as it is flexible. The ‘village’ was designed on a grid that divides the site into thirty-one bays, each 20 metres wide, which is, not coincidentally, exactly the distance between two bollards on the quayside. Future users can adapt them to new needs without affecting the overall cohesion of the whole.' Read more
