In Table Setting #11 the young designers of graft present their work on the public square in front of DE SINGEL, where they focus on the intrinsic relationship between housing and landscape.
graft consists of architects Thomas Faes and Marie van Kerckhoven. Besides their own firm, they work at Marie-José van Hee architects and Bovenbouw Architectuur, respectively. Their early work shows a critical attitude towards Flemish housing culture, with a particular focus on the relationship with the landscape.
meer over graftIn Table Setting #11 the duo displays the vision with which they are taking their first steps in their own practice. graft aspires to reconnect homes with the landscape. Their Table Setting visualises how we can once again interweave the landscape and homes in Flanders. The starting point for this is their Farm House, a renovation of a spacious, detached home on the outskirts of Hoogstraten into three compact dwellings.
Table Setting is a series of exhibitions on young architects from Flanders and Brussels, produced by DE SINGEL and the Flanders Architecture Institute (VAi). For each edition, a young design practice presents itself on the square in front of DE SINGEL, using a colourful set of tables that carry the exhibition and serve as street furniture, each time in a new arrangement.
