Import.export Architecture adopted an intelligent approach when interfacing a series of new building blocks with the existing patrimony throughout the Heilig Pius X school cluster. The demand for specific topic classrooms provided an opportunity for a thorough spatial reorganization of the entire campus. The architects have disconnected the new secondary school building from the main building and positioned it on the street side. The new primary and nursery schools are also part of the alternative streetscape. As a result of these changes, the intermediate garden zone has become a construction-free strip that connects to the neighbourhood gardens. It acts as a 'welcome zone between the trees' for pupils and visitors. All entrances are located along this semi-public space on the site, minimising traffic on the footpath and creating sufficient circulation space. The school under expansion will be given an inviting appeal and more breathing space inside for education targeted at delivering authenticity, quality, sustainability and future-oriented learning.
