ARCHITECTEN DE VYLDER VINCK TAILLIEU - GENT

Kledingzaak Twiggy

Using the former salons of the bourgeois house, dvvt introduce apertures that establish visual relationships between the ground and first floors and play with a series of new and existing internal vistas. The design employs the conventional repertoire of the boutique interior, such as large-scale mirrors, furniture and screens, but also exploits the pre-existing interior elements, such as the chimney, fragments of stucco decoration, architraves and wainscoting. The spectacle of contradictory effects in the interior finds its counterpart in the exterior of the new staircase at the back: part of the existing façade appears to have dissolved from its original position only to burst forth into the courtyard.
