Shortening acute corners is a recurring process in a number of projects in Ledeberg. Not so as to enable the traffic to flow more freely, as would have been the case half a century ago, but to create public resting places.
As if it were a typology, this also appears in a remarkable private home that Studiolo Architecture built in association with Koen Matthys on the corner of Vervaenestraat and De Vischstraat. Because of its position at one of the gateways to the city, this project takes on the role of landmark.

STUDIOLO architectuur: "The facade houses birds and offers niches to the passer-by. The wall cavity has stretched itself to an intense space: a high winter garden buffers the weather, noise, and views. It comforts and thrills the living between private and public. The house has its peculiar grain, orientation, and cohabitates animals and people."
