Vakantiewoning Buikberglos

Murmuur architecten situated the holiday home meticulously in the landscape. A bungalow that contravened planning regulations was demolished and replaced by a new house with a solid wood construction. The spacious entrance hall lies at one end and is protected by a canopy. With its open fire and greentiled chimney, the east-facing terrace has a view of the church tower of Zegelsem, a point of reference in the landscape. By contrast, the south-west terrace seeks out the shelter of the old fruit trees. When designing the house, the architects retained as much of the existing vegetation as possible. This means that the new house is encircled by a mature garden with berry bushes and fruit trees. The bedroom wing faces the neighbour’s garden with its dovecote, greenhouse and kitchen garden demarcated by concrete posts. Here, the rooms are partly dug into the ground to follow the natural slope of the site. From the bedroom area you move directly into the living space, where an oblique view of the landscape unfolds. The deep windows that overlook the rolling meadows have broad sills that double-up as seating. In some cases, they open so that you can step out into the landscape.
