OSAR ARCHITECTS - GEEL

Scoutslokalen Sint-Aloysius

The Sint-Aloysius scouts group in Geel built their new premises in conjunction with Osar Architects. After sixty years of activities using the college's playground in the city centre, they moved their operations 200 m down the road to the new sports hall. The project consists of four houses, providing each scout unit with its own space in the building. Using affordable materials and a recognizable design language Osar created a welcoming home for young and older groups. The pavilions are constructed of CLT, a prefabricated solid wood construction method, which meant that the shell of the premises was ready in just two days. Moreover, the wood inside remains visible and this warm, natural material creates a fitting ambiance for scouts’ activities. Outside a striking brick façade was chosen and combined with dark green joinery.

This project was opened on the occasion of the 2017 Day of Architecture.
