In Belgium, housing accounts for the largest share of the architect’s design practice. For many architects it is a much-liked task through which to experiment with space, material, form and meaning. At the same time, there is no other assignment that presents such a variety of solutions as housing. Differences in housing culture, environment, climate, building practice and architectural themes determine this diversity.
The collection of the Flanders Architecture Institute contains a range of drawings of various typologies and design approaches.
