The Flanders Architecture Institute exhibits the results of the BWMSTR Labels in deSingel International Arts Campus in Antwerp.
In 2015, the collective Let’s Buy the Oudaan (We kopen samen den Oudaan) launched a call to purchase the Oudaan, the Antwerp police tower. Through this initiative, the collective – which comprises the ndvr research office and a wide range of dedicated Antwerp residents – seeks to breathe new life into the tower and the utopian plans that were first envisaged by the architect Renaat Braem. The exhibition highlights the development potential of the project and encourages social debate on new forms of public development, co-financing and shared space.
Through the BWMSTR Label, the Flemish Government Architect (Vlaams Bouwmeester) seeks to identify innovative and policy-relevant ideas and, in so doing, to support (design) research at an early stage. The Flanders Architecture Institute will exhibit the results of the BWMSTR Labels in the corridors of deSingel.
