On the occasion of the exhibition MAATWERK MASSARBEIT. Custom Made Architecture from Flanders and the Netherlands in Frankfurt, the Flanders Architecture Institute, Het Nieuwe Instituut and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum present the Frankfurt Dialogues debate series.

Dutch and Flemish architects will discuss their shared convictions about craftsmanship, customisation and spatial quality, despite their divergent cultural and historical conditions.

Frankfurt Dialogue 3: Composition & Material
Here the discussion centres on the new stream’s most striking characteristics, namely the refined and careful composition and materialisation of the architecture. This evening explores the clever precision with which architects give form to both sides of the exterior and interior boundary. It also looks at the strong focus on typological richness and its design and development; as well as how material usage creates a stratification in which contrasts and details are reinforced, or all but abolished.

Speakers:
Geert Somers - ONO (BE), Marjolein van Eig - BureauvanEig (NL), Job Floris - Monadnock (NL), Daniel Rosbottom (UK)
