Landscape of Defence, by Liene Jākobsone and Ilka Ruby
What does it mean to live on NATO's external border in times of geopolitical conflict? The exhibition focuses on the military defence of the Latvian state from the perspective of the inhabitants of the border area. The curators want to highlight the specific conditions of Latvia’s geographical situation – the reason why its population lives under a constant threat of attack. Among the exhibitors is the Belgian architect Manten Devriendt (Sampling). The Government of Flanders is supporting this exhibition.

Alternative Skies is an invitation to look up and rethink how we build, amplifying the connection between natural building materials and collective construction knowledge. The project explores how design and fabrication technologies draw on the intelligences of craft, culture, and nature. It examines how vernacular roofing techniques use geometry and material strategies to work with, rather than against, gravity and material limitations.

Vivre avec / Living with will be a temporary, lightweight structure built from reused materials, situated within the grounds of the French Pavilion, which is undergoing renovation. Designed as an inclusive and interactive space, it will function as an exhibition venue, meeting point, and discussion forum, incorporating contributions from both French and international architectural schools. The lightweight structure emphasizes porosity and coexistence with the existing pavilion restoration site, creating an open and collaborative environment, as a laboratory for exhibitions, encounters, and discussions. Among others, the Brussels-based office BC architects presents a project in this exhibition.
