The BNP Paribas Fortis Headquarters in Brussels by Baumschlager Eberle Architekten in collaboration with the Belgian Styfhals and Jaspers-Eyers Architects won the MIPIM award in the category Best office & business development.
This category rewards office buildings and business parks that offer owners and users increased worker satisfaction and productivity, improved health, greater flexibility and enhanced energy and environmental performance of the workplace. Through an integrated design, the focus must be on the ability to accommodate the specific space and equipment needs of the tenant.
BNP Paribas Fortis Headquarters building
The BNP Paribas Fortis Headquarters building is located exactly where it stood for the last 200 years. The new building follows again the original street alignment and makes reference both to the 12-m difference in height that separates Brussels’ "Ville Haute" from the "Ville Basse", and the existing building heights in the area. The use of existing basement areas as a seasonal heat store keeps the mechanical plant to a minimum. A series of vast curvilinear landscaped courtyards and a large atrium provide the 4,500 building’s users and the general public with high-quality spaces in the heart of Brussels.
