With this book Ney & Partners offers a clarifying insight into the design process behind 21 of their footbridges.
Architect and engineer Laurent Ney dissects the complexity that is characteristic for each of the bridge structures. And shows some of the key concepts underlying each project: the physical and historical context, technical requirements, ecology and economy, culture and the process. At the same time, he proves how an integrated vision of architecture and engineering leads to meaningful objects that are a continuation of a building culture.
During the exhibition ‘Bridging. By foot and by bike’ at Gallery ArchiLib in Paris, the book was shown by means of photographs with details of the designs and their daily use. One of these photographers is Belgian architectural photographer Stijn Bollaert. The film De Lentloper on the footbridge in Nijmegen was also shown.
