On the occassion of the exhibition Case Design. The Craft of Collaboration the Flanders Architecture Institute presents the book Case Design. A School in the Making that elaborates on the design and construction process of the Avasara Academy in Pune, India.
Located above a small village in western India, this residential school for young women is a work in process. With thoughtful attention to both physical and social environments, the school is evolving through a design-build process focused on inclusion and engagement. A diverse group of builders, designers, farmers, craftsmen, engineers, and artists has been involved in making the school, showing the potential and possibilities of an architectural practice based on collaboration and empathy.
