The Flanders Architecture Institute is looking for a project assistant to help with a catch-up project on the digital collection.

The Flanders Architecture Institute is the main centre for information about architecture from Flanders and Brussels. We want to draw the public’s attention to the importance of a well designed living environment, we want to encourage the social debate about the design of buildings/cities and spread information about architecture. Since 2018 the Flanders Architecture Institute manages an exceptionally rich and growing collection of architectural archives and constantly expanding library. Through the collection, the institute links past, present and future of architecture.

The Flanders Architecture Institute is currently working on digitising thousands of slide films in the collection. The slide films stem from the archives of architects Lou Janssen, George Baines, Christian Kieckens and many more. By digitising these slide films we preserve the information on them and and save the information from degradation. In doing so we also make the information avalaible to the public.
In the first year, with support form other colleagues, the project assistant will work on:
In the second year of the project the project assistant will explore and perform strategies to make the digital collection of slide films and accompanying metadata avalaible to the public.
