The exhibition In-between Territories shows work from the Territories + Borders co-lab held in Bordeaux, made by Master Students from TU Delft and KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture. They examined the spatial and socio-cultural dynamics of transitional territories located between the airport and the historic heart of Bordeaux.
Transitional spaces are explored through the lens of liminal conditions, borders and territories.
The exhibition probes the tangible and intangible notion of boundaries and interrogates how the context and situatedness of spatial construct and form is conceived as territorial entity. Cartographic techniques are embraced through which borders and the crossing of such borders can be captured, dissected and translated through mapping, inscription, sampling and encoding.
Works from the Territories + Borders co-lab held in Bordeaux, show how Master Students from TU Delft and KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture, examined the spatial and socio-cultural dynamics of transitional territories located between the airport and the historic heart of Bordeaux.
The physical, intellectual and sensorial exploration in situ was translated into six meters long maps; the entry point for contextually sensitive interventions, grounded in the multiplicity of in-between spaces in a mutating city context.
