KlimaWandelStadt is an investigation of built architectures, but also about ideas for the coexistence of all living beings in one space, above and below ground. The result can be seen in an exhibition, a joint work of students - future architects - at the University of Wuppertal. It shows investigations into traditional and contemporary forms of controlling the climate in houses and cities, but also possibilities for removing the sealing from the streets and squares in Wuppertal‘s Nordstadt. Among other projects the students also reflected on and made models of projects by Flemish architecture offices as de vylder vinck taillieu, Blaf en Havana.
For a long time, responses to the climate crisis focused on building strategies of so-called retrofitting and improved thermal insulation. It is becoming increasingly clear that these answers do not suffice. Changing our way of life requires us to transform our cities, and with it the urban spaces as well as the houses in which we work and live. This is the approach of the exhibition KlimaWandelStadt in the Alte Bonbonfabrik in Wuppertal‘s Nordstadt. The exhibition explores architecture‘s ability to use its own ancient knowledge of heat and cold, of comfort and social conventions, of new technologies and traditional methods, for the city of the future.

The exhibition is a journey through global architectural history and the possibilities for the future.
Among other thing the students got to work with work of architects from Flanders. Models were made of Woning Rotelenberg by architecten de vylder vinck taillieu, but also projects by Blaf architecten and Havana architectuur were put in the spotlight.
