Lecture / Laurent Ney - Design as synthesis

Laurent Ney is the founder of Ney & Partners, with offices in Brussels, Luxembourg and Tokio. He studied at the University of Liège (BE) and the RWTH Aachen (DE).

Ney & Partners stands for an integrated way of dealing with technical, contextual and esthetic problems. This working method executed by a team of ingineers, architects and other experts becomes visible in projects that unite this variety of disciplines: such as bridges in Albi (France), Dejima (Japan) and Nijmegen (NL). Ney is also responsable for projects with a more poetical and ingenieus design like the Viewpoint in Koblenz and the Courtyard of the Dutch Maritime Museum in Amsterdam (image). It is with projects like these that Ney shows how modern ingeneering can also work in a more sensitive historical environment.
