Lezing Jean-Louis Cohen (Launch event DOCOMOMO Belgium 2)

DOCOMOMO Belgium introduces itself to the general public with a lecture of Jean-Louis Cohen on 16 April 2012.

DOCOMOMO is an acronym for the DOcumentation and COnservation of buildings, sites and neighbourhoods of the MOdern MOvement.

DOCOMOMO International was founded in 1988 and presently includes 59 chapters and more than 2,300 members in Europe, America, Asia, Oceania and Africa. On 15 March, the invited speakers were spraken Hubert-Jan Henket (NL) & John Allan (UK). On this second launch event of DOCOMOMO Belgium, the French architect and historian Jean-Louis Cohen will discuss the DOcumentary of the modern movement.

Cohen will guide the audience through his years of research in architecture and urban planning, against the backdrop of the broader political and social context. He is currently professor of history of architecture at Columbia University (New York) and is internationally and academically recognized for his architectural historical reflection and publications on modern movement architecture and its iconic architects Mies van der Rohe and Le Corbusier. He was curator of several important exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) New York and the Centre Pompidou Paris.
