On 1 January 2018, the Centre for Flemish Architectural Archives (CVAa) and Architectural Archives of the Province of Antwerp (APA) merged to become the Flanders Architecture Archives. The latter assumes responsibility for the APA collection, which it will further develop, while also extending the support services provided by the former CVAa to the architectural cultural heritage sector in Flanders.
The Flanders Architecture Archives is part of the Flanders Architecture Institute, which henceforth becomes a fully-fledged institute with collection.
The following website documents the works that can be found in the Flanders Architecture Archives: www.collectie.architectuurarchiefvlaanderen.be. Here, you will find a brief description of the collection, an overview of the archive with links to location lists and inventories, as well as information on how and when the archives can be consulted.
The Flanders Architecture Archives is also launching a programme of collection-related activities, including an archive appraisal process (spring 2018) and the preparation of a publication and exhibition (autumn 2018) to mark the year of Léon Stynen. Other activities focus on the wider architectural archive sector, including projects relating to construction company archives and digital architectural heritage, the provision of professional advice, the development of the Architectural Archives Database, and negotiating the transfer of archives to the collection.
