Antwerp Urban and Landscape architecture office Omgeving was announced the winner of the Veenendaal Architecture Prize ‘De Gilbert’ with the plan ‘De Turfweide’ or ‘Peat field’. The plan of Omgeving was conceived as a land art project in which the peat history of Veenendaal is exposed. It will be a dynamic monument in which ecological development and water retention are reconciled with identity, history and tourism. According to the jury, this design can become an important icon for the municipality of Veenendaal.
