In the book Esthétique des structures, several architects debate the changing role of structures in architecture. In addition to usability, solidity and aesthetics, much attention is now paid to ecology, the protection of resources, the saving of materials, reuse... These changes form the basis of a new aesthetics.
In the article ‘Du réemploi des structures’ (the reuse of structures) by Rotor features Rotor’s (unrealised) pavilion for the Winter in Antwerpen festival. For that project Rotor proposed to reuse structural elements from a demolition of a canopy of the Brussels North station. Adrien Verschuere of BAUKUNST contributed with the text ‘Performance et performativité’ (performance and productivity), Philippe Samyn with ‘Est-(h)-ét(h)ique.
The AAIIA (Association Architecte-Ingénieur et Ingénieur-Architecte) is based in France.
