The German magazine Baunetzwoche #587 discusses seven Belgian crematoria and a cemetery and cites them as innovative examples of funerary infrastructure. The majority of the projects were commissioned through the Flemish Government Architect’s Open Call procedure.
Baunetzwoche on the building programma for crematoria in Flanders: "In order to meet the increased demand for cremation, the government of Flanders decided 15 years ago to launch a building programme that is unparalleled in Europe. The seven crematoria and a cemetery show what contemporary burial landscapes can look like today."
