Shortlist Belgian pavilion Biennale Architettura 2025

Three teams strive for the winning design

In response to the open call, more than 40 teams submitted a proposal for an exhibition concept in the Belgian pavilion at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition - La Biennale di Venezia. The jury selected three teams to further develop their design:

• Buro Bas Smets, Stefano Mancuso and Valerie Trouet
  Biospheres, Natural Intelligence aims to showcase research into the natural intelligence of plants by transforming the Belgian Pavilion into a laboratory.
• Marie Pétrault, Angelique Soglo, Jeanne Mujawamariya and Arianna Fabrizi De Biani
  Measure’s constellation reflects from a postcolonial perspective on the impact of standards and norms. This interactive installation links algorithms with methods of measuring human identity and scale.
• Pauline Clarot, Sacha Ketelbuters and Leander Venlet
  Inside or Outside? explores the potential and risks of renovation, focusing on the 'skin of a building' and how we manage the relationship between the interior and exterior.
