The Faculty of Design Sciences is seeking to fill a vacancy in the architecture programme, for a part-time (40%) Guest professor (BAP) in the area of architectural design, with a focus on architecture as environment.
This vacancy for architecture design aims to further expand and update the thematic design education and research in the bachelor and master studios of the architecture programme of the Faculty of Design Sciences.
The candidate for this position is preferably familiar with both design education and design research in a pedagogical framework, relying on both traditional and innovative design methodologies. The architecture programme aims at developing a sustainable building culture, driven by societal issues concerning the city, its surroundings and the countryside. Integrating design skills and scientific knowledge, the design studio explores this concept of building from three perspectives: the relationship between architecture and culture (typology: what to build?), the relationship between architecture and environment (topology: where to build?) and the relationship between architecture and construction (tectonics: how to build?).
This vacancy concerns architectural design from the perspective of architecture as environment, and is in line with the vision of the programme as an integrative design approach, bringing together technical, aesthetic and functional questions.
