In spring 2020, the Flanders Architecture Institute focuses on the link between Japan and Flanders/Brussels. RE-PRACTICE RE-VISIT RE-TURN by architecten de vylder vinck taillieu is the first exhibition of a season that has been given the baseline ‘Back from Japan’. The opening programme consisted of Momoyo Kajima (Atelier Bow-Wow), Kana Arioka (workshops Tokyo, Istanbul, London), Takero Shimazaki (Takero Shimazaki Architects) and Lisa De Visscher (A+) in conversation with Inge Vinck.
Keynote lecture 'On Becoming a Modernist Architect' held by Adrian Forty on the international conference 'Architecture and professionalism: New approaches to the work of the Belgian architect Léon Stynen and his international contemporaries' organized by the Flanders Architecture Institute and the Province of Antwerp on 7-9 December 2017.
On 11 January 2017 the initiators of the exhibition gathered in the Blue Foyer of deSingel in Antwerp for a mini symposium on the outcomes of Drawing Out: Material Dialogues with the Boyarsky-Collection. Guests at the symposium were Igor Marjanovic (Author of the catalogue Drawing Ambience: Alvin Boyarsky and the Architectural Association), Ephraim Joris (MIARD Rotterdam), Bart Hollanders and Riet Eeckhout (KULeuven St-Lucas), Robin Schaeverbeke, Maarten Van Den Driessche, Marius Grootveld, Arnaud Hendrickx, Mira Sanders, Cédric Noël, Jo Van Den Berghe, Pieterjan Ginckels, Alex Suárez, Füsun Türetken and Dimitri van Grunderbeek.
The opening of the exhibition Drawing Ambience was held on Tuesday 28 November 2017 in deSingel (Antwerp).
In the exhibition A new perspective on waste young architects Carmen van Maercke, Caterina Rosso and Julie Marin took the twentieth-century belt around Antwerp as a case study for their view on waste.
