The curatorial team of the 2022 edition of IABR includes the Belgian Dr. Ir. Véronique Patteeuw, lecturer at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Architecture et du Paysage Lille, visiting lecturer at the KU Leuven and EPFL Lausanne and academic editor of OASE.
The appointment of a new curatorial team with Saskia van Stein as president shows that the IABR will be striking out in a new direction. Exactly 50 years after the publication of The Limits to Growth form the Club of Rome, the 10th International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (IABR 2022): IT’S ABOUT TIME, asks how architecture can respond to socioecological urgencies by considering time as a crucial factor in the design process.
Announcement new curatorial team for IABRIn 1972, the Club of Rome, an international group of academics, businessmen, diplomats, and industry leaders who were deeply concerned by the general conditions of life on planet Earth, published The Limits to Growth: A Report for the Club of Rome's Project on the Predicament of Mankind. The report was based on computer simulations – a novel technology at the time – generated by the Systems Dynamics Group at MIT (Cambridge, MA). The group studied the combined behavior of a set number of factors threatening human society on Earth: exponential population increase, agricultural production, non-renewable resource depletion, industrial output, and pollution generation.
