The new architectural season is fast approaching and is packed with events once again! In addition to the Festival of Architecture in Ghent and two large and six small exhibitions in deSingel, we are planning numerous publications, lectures and debates. The exhibition Variete / architecture / desire features key works of the Ghent-based architecture firm with models and drawings produced at a workshop that took place at the Tokyo Institute of Technology in the spring of 2019. On 13 September Jo Taillieu, Jan De Vylder (architecten de vylder vinck taillieu) and Sofie De Caigny (director Flanders Architecture Institute) give a lecture at the Toto Gallery about the relationship between architecture from Flanders and Japan.

Architects from Flanders and Brussels leave their mark on the public space in Albania
August 2019

During an inspiring partnership trip to Albania, the Flanders Architecture Institute, together with its partners and a group of Flemish and Brussels-based architects, acquired a unique insight into recent urban and architectural developments in the country. The trip was prompted by the noteworthy presence of offices such as 51N4E, XDGA and Bureau Bas Smets and their influence on urban development in the cities of Tirana, Vlorë and Himarë.
