Stefaan Grieten (1963) has been collection manager of the Flemish Architecture Institute since January 2018. Before that, he was a scientific staff member of the Heritage Department of the Antwerp Provincial Government since 1989 and a staff member of the Architecture Archive of the Province of Antwerp since 2002.
He studied Art History at KU Leuven and completed a PhD in Engineering Science at KU Leuven in 2020.
He has published scholarly contributions since 1988 on iconographic themes in South Netherlandish art, art and architecture in the Prince Bishopric of Liège in the early 16th century, interculturality in Western architecture, and art nouveau in Antwerp. He was co-curator of several exhibitions of the Architecture Archive: Bouwen in Beeld (2004), Het Architectuurarchief belicht (2008), and Modellenwerk (2014). He is also a board member of the Antwerp Association for Building History and History, and in that capacity he publishes on architectural heritage and monument conservation in Antwerp.
In 2022, he won the House of Arenberg History Prize.
