The Antwerp Law Courts building literally and figuratively represents an architecture that self-confidently sticks its neck out, but which thereby also exposes itself to criticism. This 'butterfly palace' tramples on the conventions of architectural style that prevail in Flanders. The building's swining machine aesthetics speaks volumes.
