The elementary composition of the façade, supporting structure, spatial arrangement and finish define the new Deurne Youth Competence Centre (JCC) more as a piece of basic infrastructure than as a finely finished new building. It does not look residential, even though it completes the frontage of the street, which consists mainly of terraced houses and flats. It exudes a sort of tempered brutalism, a no-nonsense look that summons up impressions of non-fashionable creativity, professional training and public amenity, impressions perfectly suited to the intention of the JCCs.
